is a performance piece where I am kneeling inside a “vase”, with my arms positioned inside its handles, limiting my ability to move. This body-cast vase is a symbol that speaks to the way women are often seen as “empty” or needing to be filled—whether through romantic relationships, societal validation, or motherhood. The vase metaphor critiques the idea that women are defined by what they lack or what others can provide for them, rather than by their inherent worth or self-defined identity. The performance Ensimismada is an invitation to embrace the complexity of our identities, and from that place, shatter the vase that seeks to contain us.
